Publishing

Laura Van Wormer grew up in Darien, Connecticut and received her B.S. in Public Communications from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University. She started her career as secretary to the editor-in-chief of Doubleday & Company and worked her way up to editor.

When Doubleday needed someone to help the creators of the hit TV show DYNASTY to create a book, they sent Laura. Shortly thereafter she accepted an offer from Lorimar Productions to write books about their hit TV shows, DALLAS and KNOTS LANDING, the money from which she used to support herself while learning to write her first novel.

That first novel, RIVERSIDE DRIVE, was a bestseller and Laura wrote 13 more novels before she decided to cross over the book publishing fence again, to the editorial side, creating a think tank to gather data about how authors, editors and literary agents can make more money in a deteriorating book publishing industry.  The entity she created is called Author & Company, LLC, of which Laura is CEO.

Author & Company is active in eBook publishing, print publishing, author marketing, electronic referencing systems and author licensing and merchandising.

Laura is also a contributing literary agent to Loretta Barrett Books, Inc. in Manhattan.
